Paula is currently employed at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto, Ontario. For 28 years of her career, she has worked in staff and management positions in PACU, Day Surgery and Pre-Admission Units,primarily in teaching tertiary and quartenary hospitals (25 years at UHN: Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals).
She received both her undergraduate degree (B.Sc.N.) and her graduate degree (M.N.) from the University of Toronto.
Paula has been involved with OPANA, on the Board of Directors since 1999, becoming more active with conference planning and finally chairing/co-chairing conferences over the past 4 years. In 2005, Paula was nominated as President-Elect which came into effect in October, 2007 for a two year term. In May, 2007 Paula was nominated to the position of President-Elect for NAPANc, which came into effect in May, 2009 for a two year term.
She is also Chair of the Website committees for both OPANA and NAPANc. Last year, she developed a new website for OPANA (March, 2008)with over 70 categories filled with relevant information for OPANA members and for NAPANc (December, 2008)with over 40 categories of national information.
As President of NAPANc, Paula is leading the quest for Certification of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada!
