The intent of this alignment was to increase networking of knowledge, skills and strength of their specialty in order to improve patient care and to increase recognition of their/our area of specialty.

NAPAN© is comprised of associations from across 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada (click on the flags to your left to learn more about each province or territory: by holding your cursor over the flag, the name of the province that each flag represents will appear). The task of organizing an association across a country of this size can be a daunting one, but over time and with perseverance and tenacity, this specialty association finally came to fruition and has now reached international recognition. Modern technology has enhanced this possibility, as the Association is now purely web based for its members and through electronic mail and web-based communications, the Volunteers of NAPAN© are able to meet and plan.

NAPAN in Cree means “Eyes Open”, and thus the quarterly newsletter has been named the “Eye Opener”. The NAPAN© logo reflects this theme with the red maple leaf inside the large “C” resembling the pupil of an eye.

This website will evolve over time as new and current information in the field of PeriAnesthesia Nursing becomes available and necessary for our work.
