CERTIFICATION DEVELOPMENT IS NEARLY COMPLETE!
NAPANc wishes to highlight those PeriAnesthesia Nurses who Volunteer their time and expertise in the development of our CNA Certification Examination. This has taken 4 years to get to where we are now, but we are nearly there!
The Competency Development Committee (pictured below) met in Ottawa in November, 2012 to develop a set of comprehensive PeriAnesthesia Nurse Competencies. And now they are ready: ready for exam questions to be developed based on these competencies.
The "Item Writing" Committee comprised of 24 volunteers from across the country, will commence their work on February 25 until March 18, 2013 writing, reviewing and revising dozens of questions for use on our exam. These exam questions will include all phases of PeriAnesthesia care, from the PreAdmission Phase to the Extended Observation Phase (and everything in between).
Then comes translation into French, a final review by the "Exam sub-committee", and a stamp of approval.
Registration for the FIRST EVER PERIANESTHESIA NURSES CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION will be open in September, 2013 on the CNA website. Watch for it there. And watch this website for study guide and study group information to assist with the examination.
