      Saskatchewan’s PeriAnesthesia nursing colleagues first began discussions to form a special interest group in 1998. PANGS' request to be recognized as a Professional Practice Group was approved by the SRNA late in 2002 and the  PeriAnesthesia  Nurses’ Group  of  Saskatchewan (PANGS) was  officially formed  in  2003.

      PANGS  objectives  are:  

      • to promote  high  standards  for  PeriAnesthesia  nursing;   
      • to represent  Saskatchewan  PeriAnesthesia nurses  locally  and nationally and to support  the objectives  of  NAPANc;  
      • to  identify  needs  and  to promote  continuing  education  and research  in  PeriAnesthesia  nursing;  
      • to share  knowledge  and issues  about  matters  relating  to PeriAnesthesia  settings;  
      • to promote  specialty  certification

       

       

      Membership has gradually increased annually, with the current membership at 70 members from across Saskatchewan.

       

       

       

      Conferences and Meetings:

      PANGS  hosted  NAPAN©’s  4th Annual  Meeting  and  Conference  in 2005 which was held in Saskatoon.

       

      PANGS  holds  an annual  general meeting and conference  each fall as well as quarterly conference call meetings. Every other year PANGS partners with SORNG (Saskatchewan Operating Room Nurses Group) and holds a two day conference. PANGS members receive reduced registration fees to attend  the conferences. PANGS Annual General Meeting occurs yearly in September or October.Check this website for the dates of each year's annual general meeting:

       

      2011 Meeting date:  

      The 2011 PANGs Annual General Meeting was in Saskatoon, SK at Saskatoon City Hospital,  on September 17, 2011 in conjunction with the SORNG Annual General Meeting.

      SRNA's 8th Annual Member Links Night on May 1, 2012 at the Delta Hotel in Regina

       

      PANGS  assists  members  with registration  fees  to attend  NAPAN© ‘s Annual Meeting and Conference dependent on funds available. Information regarding PANGS  activities and contacts are also posted on the SRNA website.
