National Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada :: NAPANC

The second edition of the NAPANc Standards for Practice:  October, 2011!!!

The 2nd Edition Standards Committee:  began to revise the First Edition of the Standards for Practice in 2008. Updates were included based on the newest evidence available in the literature.  The framework was revised to incorporate Accreditation Canada's Required Organizational Practices and other standards.  This enhanced version of the Standards incorporates additional Standards, Resources and a new Position Statements category.

The NAPANc Standards Committee is diverse and membership includes representation from the following:

1) Populations: adult, geriatrics and pediatrics

2) Nursing classifications:  clinicians, educators, administration, researchers

3) Environments:  Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Day Surgery, PreAdmission/Operative units, Day of Surgery Admission units, Regional Anesthesia rooms and Same Day Surgery.

The NAPANc Standards Committee members gave generously of their time and were dedicated to the association and PeriAnesthesia nursing.  The commitment, dedication and friendship of this group of PeriAnesthesia nurses has allowed for the success of the NAPANc Standards Committee and both editions of the NAPANc Standards for Practice.
